The proceeds of the sale were managed by the Harvard Apparatus Foundation (HAF), which was later renamed the William Townsend Porter Foundation. Porter founded the company “to promote laboratory teaching and research in physiology and its allied sciences. Allen Wayne supported APS’s 50th anniversary of the Porter Fellowship with a logo design and a booklet that gives the history and interviews the award winners.
